We love to incorporate themes in to our snacks and lunches at home, it makes it so much more fun for the littles and it kinda keeps me on my toes too! You definitely can’t tell the kids NOT to play with their food when you make them something that resembles our FAVORITE building blocks – LEGOs! To make snack time even more themed-out, we’re watching some LEGO cartoons on Netflix. There are quite a few to choose from too – but our favorite is LEGO City!
Make these fun LEGO themed snacks yourself – here’s how:
Your favorite sliced lunch meat (I used turkey),
Your favorite brick of cheese cut into slices (colby jack is one the favorites in my house!),
Any rectangular cracker (we prefer Multi-Grain Club crackers. They make a mini version that would be super fun too!)
To make lunch meat rectangular, I used my crackers as a template and cut the shapes out. For the holes, I used a 2-3 inch piece I cut from a straw. You push it in and give it a slight twist as you remove the straw. This helps remove the dot easier and neater. To empty the pieces from the straw, I pushed a bamboo skewer through it. If you don’t feel like doing that, you can go ahead and cut a new section of straw. Just toss the filled one in the trash! (My kids had fun eating the ‘dots’ though!) Assembly: Just like Legos, you can stack as much or as little as you like! Alternate options, use 2 kids of meats, 3 kinds of cheeses…the possibilities are endless!!
