With having two little ones at home all day, it can be hard to keep them entertained. We are in New York at the moment and I have been trying to do activities with the kids. It’s still cold out so they are bored of being inside.
We are staying with family but they work most of the day. So it’s just the kids and I until everyone gets home. It is so much easier entertaining them at our home because they have all their toys and activities there. So off to Target I went to do a little shopping.
While traveling, I try to keep activities cheap because I will most likely not be bringing the supplies back with me. This week I chose to do two activities because they are easy to do and very inexpensive.
We made Grape Towers and Edible Sand.
Supplies needed for the Grape Towers:
Grapes (we chose red and green to add more color)
If you decide to use the marshmallows, do not stack them up too high because it will fall apart. If you wish to build high towers, use just the grapes.
Also remember to supervise this activity. My 3 year old definitely needed help using the toothpicks but older kids may be able to do it themselves.
Remember to have fun and post pics of your towers below!
Supplies needed for the Edible Sand:
Container of your choice to put the sand in (we used a foil pan)
We used the quart size Ziploc bags and filled them up half way with the granulated sugar. Next, we added about 4 drops of food coloring and closed the bag. Shake! Shake! Shake! Mix together until the food coloring is mixed in well.
At Target we were able to buy the food coloring in a pack of 4. So we only used those four colors. Finally, we laid the sand in the foil pan and let them go at it!
The best part is that my kiddos didn’t even realize it was sugar, so they just played. Next time we will definitely use more colors for added fun!
