Trying to find activities for children of different ages can be very difficult. Even with our little ones, who are almost 2 years apart, it can be tiring trying to keep them both happy.
There are times when Hailey wants to go to the movies but we can’t because Kenny won’t sit through it. There are also activities that I know he just won’t care for. On the other hand, Kenny is totally content with being home and playing with his toys. So what am I supposed to do to keep them and myself entertained?
How about make some homemade bouncy balls! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a kid who doesn’t enjoy playing with bouncy balls. The older children can help make them and get creative with colors and cool designs. The smaller children will have just as much fun bouncing them around. This DIY is a win for everyone.
Once the kids are done playing, you can toss them in the toy box and call it day. These fun bouncy balls will keep the whole family busy!
Here’s what you’ll need:
½ cup warm water in a container
1 Tbsp Borax
2 Tbsp Elmer’s clear or white glue
1 Tbsp Corn starch
Food coloring of your choice
1. Add the Borax to the container with warm water. Mix until the Borax is dissolved.
2. In a separate container add the glue, corn starch, and food coloring of your choice. (If you want to do a multi-colored ball, just do 1 Tbsp of glue and ½ Tbsp of cornstarch for each color in separate containers) Mix until all the ingredients are combined.
4. Once all the colors are out of the solution. Put them together and form into a ball. You can dip it into the solution to help you mold it into your desired shape.
5. When the roundness of a ball is achieved, place into the solution one last time to solidify the ball.
