When I purchased my VERY first essential oil, I was worried that it would go to waste. I had originally got it because it helped me sleep during the last few weeks of my pregnancy. I sat there and thought that there was no way I could finish the 15-ml bottle of Lavender. Eventually, I wouldn’t need it to sleep. With anything that I buy, I like to get my money’s worth. Don’t we all? How else would I be able to use it up?
So, I went ahead and ordered The Essential Life to start gaining some knowledge about the oils.
Fast forward a few weeks and that 15-ml bottle is almost empty. We have used Lavender for so many different things and I want to share them with you. Not only because Lavender can be so beneficial in your everyday life, but also it could help you conjure up some great ideas for your essential oil use.
Here are 10 reasons to use Lavender Oil
- Sleep Aid
I had to start with this one because it’s the reason I bought Lavender in the first place. Lavender is known for its calming properties. Whether you’re taking a bath or diffusing it in your bedroom at night, it will help you unwind at the end of the day which will encourage a more restful sleep.
- Alleviate Pain
There have been many studies that have proven Lavender oil to lower blood pressure, heart rate, and pain. Lavender can provide natural pain relief without the crazy side effects of prescription drugs. With its pain reducing properties, it’s definitely one of the favorites out there.
- Reduce Inflammation
Lavender can also be used to reduce inflammation. Its anti-inflammatory properties can help with chronic inflammation from arthritis and even help with muscle stiffness. A warm bath or compress can be used, as well as other forms.
- Scalp/Hair care
This is probably my favorite way to use lavender. It’s super easy and I think taking care of your hair is a must. Lavender is so good to your hair! You can massage directly onto the scalp for improved blood circulation, hair growth, and prevent hair loss. Always remember, consistency is key. When you consistently use the oil on your hair, you will see the results!
- Natural Deodorizer
Drop a little Lavender onto drier sheets, pillows, bedding, curtains, or your wash-cycle. Not only will it kill odor-causing bacteria, but it will also add an amazing and relaxing aroma to your belongings.
- Heal Wounds
Who would have thought Lavender oil could heal wounds? Well, it really can! When applied onto small wounds, it can help the wound heal faster by causing the increase of cell growth. It also helps decreasing the appearance of scars. And if you’re not satisfied yet, it protects the wound from infection!
- Chapped Lips
Chapped lips can be painful and uncomfortable. Fortunately, Lavender can help with the healing process and soothe your lips. Mix 1-2 drops of lavender oil and 1 tsp of coconut oil and other similar bases for quick relief.
When it comes to sunburns, we all want fast healing. Lavender has antimicrobial properties that help with healing. It works so well because it gives the skin the extra boost it needs to renew itself.
- Insect Repellent
You can rub Lavender oil directly onto your skin to repel insects. It can even be used on your pets when they venture outside. When you apply lavender on your pulse, the oil is disbursed by your body heat.
Many acne care products contain lavender oil. Wonder why? Lavender oil soothes and nourishes the skin. It treats acne and reduces the appearance of dark spots, scars, and dry skin cause by acne.
As if this isn’t enough reason, you can use lavender in your kitchen and for DIY projects. Seriously, I cannot believe that I thought I would not use up my Lavender oil.
Remember that these are just some quick and general uses and benefits from Lavender oil. There are many ways to use the oil and therefore, they require some knowledge. Pinterest if one of my favorite places to get ideas from and even get some new recipes for my oils.
